I wonder if I ever mentioned to you my English teacher friend and I created two hour humanities classes jointly teaching History and English at both high school and middle school levels We had had agreed the best way to keep history from being text book driven and boring was to use historical fiction and YA books in our combined 2 hour classes. Of course, YA was perhaps a term invented then but they were out there and we found them.
