A Winter Valentine

Fields of white, skies so blue and shadow stripes.

Cutting trails and chasing golden light,

To hidden seascapes of frozen time.

Then lifting shovels instead of weights,

And curling up fireside with my Valentine.

    These are ALL my favourites, but the hidden seascape of frozen time is especially magical.

    It's still cold and damp here, (but then it usually is), but we seem to be casting off winter. I saw the first daffodils yesterday!

    (Gasps) My God! This is just absolutely beautiful. I mean, I know that a lot of people are being affected by the snow as I write (Chicago comes to mind), but your photos are breath-taking. And that killer at the end is priceless. The good, ol' fire, where we all warm our bones, cuddled up with our loved one. :-)

    Dear Sarah, The fire and the ice....such striking winter companions and how beautifully you have illustrated them here. I do so hope that you are keeping safe in this most extreme of weather conditions, but it does all make for such amazing photographs!

    I love the impressions of the skis in the snow bank. We just returned from Colorado where 34" of snow fell while we were there! Such a magical quality to the landscape when covered with snow.

    W2W, I’m flattered that you thought I went to college with Hari. He’s actually a former student of my husband’s and more than a decade younger than me. I bet we’ll be hearing more of Hari in the decades to come. His show was hilarious.

    Les, ha! I’m sure the emphasis was on “other people.” Actually this year, the south may have had more snow. Ours just takes longer to melt.
