Beyond Winter?

When snow lingers longer than it ought,

The dune grass shivers,

Whilst sand freezes in windy ripples.

Still, the tide escapes the deep freeze.

The sun defrosts the bitter sea,

And me.

    Lovely photos! They make me happy and are very tempting. I feel like gathering shells at low tide. Love "Whilst sand freezes in windy ripples". It looks just like an abstract piece!

    You caught a slice of the season I enjoy. When the snow is off the roads (and its warmer) but still lingering here and there around tree, dunes etc.

    The third photo, top to bottom, is a painting itself. If you hadn't mentioned the snow, I wouldn't have known it was the white stuff there. It's a picture (like the rest) beyond words. Nature, the greatest artists of all! :-)

    Oh what a nice verse. I had to smile. Here we still have mountains of the stuff piled along the roads..... but I saw my concrete driveway this morning for the first time in months. :)

    I had never thought of late winter/early spring as anything than the ugliest time of year, but your pictures beg to differ. What cool images and compositions. Guess I need to check out late winter on the Maine coast because that is beautiful!

    What a lovely little poem for winter's end! I know it must be bitter cold, but those sparkling blue skies always persuade me otherwise. I love to see the shimmer of light on the sea, although the frosted beach is pretty wonderful, too.

    what a stunning array of images - most of them a study in white and blue, including the great shot of you!

    my favorite, however, is the shot of sand, ridged and encrusted with snow. how often does one see that, i wonder?
