Sunset at Lookout Point

The islands at Lookout Point remind me of floating bonsais.

Autumn’s crisp, cool air makes the colors more intense.

Painting dockside, I watch lobstermen unloading their catch.

Seabirds queue for sunset as I drive the nine miles home.

  1. What a gift to be able to look out at such things regularly, especially for those of us raised in the city. For me the sight of water, trees and sunsets feeds my soul.

  3. oh my GOODNESS.

If I came up here and sat and healed and thought would things be any clearer in my mind? Would my heart stop pounding? My arm stop aching? Would I live?

    I suspect so.

  7. it's hard to know if these are photographs, the scenes are so painterly. and you're right, those trees do resemble floating bonsais.

what a lovely 9 mile drive home.

  10. Cid, we former city girls appreciate the scenery all the more for its novelty.

ACIL, Tracy and Cat, I’m lucky indeed

Beth, you need a vacation. How about fall foliage in Maine?

Tina, good to hear that I’m not alone is seeing bonsais.

    Troutbirder, thanks

Amanda, Bonnie and Carol, it’s hard to capture sunset in watercolors with the light fading fast. The painting was finished earlier in afternoon light. It’s for next year’s art show. Next week I’ll post the painting for this year’s show.

BTW, I recently changed my blog name my dropping the "blogspot" and for some reason my new posts aren't updating in some of my friend's feeds, so if you want to you can change my URL to thedollsweetjournal.com and it may help fix it. Aargh! Thanks :)

  18. The word "molten" comes to mind. What marvellous pictures, Sarah!

I was in London today and walked through Hyde Park. It was so warm that people were out sun-bathing. (I don't think it was ever that warm in July/August.)

  19. Donna, the new URL is updating fine on my blog.

Bee, molten is the perfect word, even more so the sunset last night. Will post those sunset photos in October. It’s been in the 70’s here. That’s great that you have that weather too.
