Need a laugh?

At this crazy busy time of year, don't you feel like jumping off the long pier into summer?

My daughter's second play opens tonight. She is playing one of the 3 Alice's in Alice in Wonderland at her school. This morning her straightener died so half of her hair is naturally curly and the other half is straight. The 2 other Alice's have naturally straight hair. I'm suggesting braids. They say break a leg, not a hair straightener! Her first play, Comedy of Errors, was free of unintended comic errors. For that she played a man. The girl has range. The below YouTube clip was recommended by her Shakespeare acting class buddies.

Laughter keeps us going:

The photo is of Deer Isle, Maine.

Oh no - she doesn't need that to happen on a performance day! Braids sound like a good idea.

I remember when my middle daughter was about two, she got up early found some scissors and cut off her curly golden locks right down to the scalp - on ONE SIDE of her head.

Best of luck to your daughter and the play tonight. And braids sound like a logical solution! :)

As a parent of a teen who straightens his hair every day it is indeed an emergency! I feel for your daughter and yes, a might bit funny thinking of all her curly hair half straight and half curly. You must run and get her a new straightener right away!

Braids rule! Believe me. What is important is the acting, not the way she does her hair. :-)

That clip was seriously funny.

Many thanks and bucketloads of luck to your daughter.

Greetings from London.

Bonnie, your daughter cut off an entire braid?! I hope she let you even it out. What a story!

David, thanks! Her dad is going to tonight’s opening, and I’m going to tomorrow’s performance. That way she’ll have one of us every night. Her older brother is doing the sound.

Tina, I didn’t know boys straightened their hair too. My daughter pulled her hair back in a ponytail and it looked fne. By the time the school bus arrived, she was laughing about the timing. She spent her babysitting and birthday money to buy a top quality hair straightener, and it only lasted a year. I’ll treat her to a replacement.

ACIL, yes, I agree that acting matters the most. I rather like her hair in braids or naturally curly. The straightening was more to do with getting the 3 Alice’s to look alike through the 3 parts of the musical. The 8th graders wrote the adaptation and all act in it as a school project. She wrote a big chunk of her part too.

That's a very lonely, very beautiful photo.

Braids sound good. Breaking the hair straightener must bring her luck ( a variation on the traditional "break a leg!"

I'm sure her Alice will be Wonderful!

Too bad that didn't happen to her at our house - we have 3 straighteners! Good luck to her in her play! I'm sure she'll do great!

Hilarious video!

I can sooooo relate with the curls. Oh my. I battled with that and still do. Those that don't have them want them and those that do want them banished forever. I have tried every product made and I can tell you nothing out of a bottle works. The straightener is my best friend and my heart goes out to her that hers broke on such an important day. I love how people are always saying- oh but I love the curls. Whatever. hahahha. I have done all the straighteners and even the latest one with the formaldehyde in it... I know but I was desperate. I did like it but once my husband found out what was in it he read me article after article on reasons not to do it anymore. I am in search of something else. I detest the mornings with the straightener. Oh to wash and go......... Cute video clip by the way.

i can definitely picture alice in braids - and the different 'do' will make her stand out in a unique way!
good luck to her with the performance — and i'm still laughing after viewing my sassy gay friend. should be required viewing for all middle school shakespeare productions!

She'll certainly be an interesting Alice with half-curly, half-straight hair:)

Funny video; Romeo and Juliet is a good example why teens shouldn't rush into a relationship:)

I definitely feel like jumping off a long pier into summer! The June calendar is making me feel really anxious.

I hope the "Alice" production was a success.
